Texas Tennis Foundation Names New Executive Director 3/1/2004 - The Board of Directors of the Texas Tennis Foundation announced today the hiring of Larry Eichenbaum for its position of Executive Director. Eichenbaum, who has over three decades of experience in the tennis industry, was the Director of Tennis at the Walden Racquet Club in Montgomery, Texas.
In addition to his tennis professional and management skills, Eichenbaum has been active in the management of various foundations in his community, currently serving as treasurer of both the Montgomery Scholarship Foundation and the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe Foundation, the latter of which he is a past president. His community service also extends to the Board of Directors of banks, United Way and the Montgomery Independ-ent School District .
''Larry Eichenbaum has been a well respected leader in the tennis industry and in his community for many years. I have confidence that, through his efforts, the Texas Tennis Foundation will grow as the charitable entity of the USTA Texas Section,'' Carol Welder, President of the USTA Texas Section said . ''We look forward to working with Larry to further the opportunities for individuals to learn to play tennis, to succeed in school
and to develop life skills.''
Leo Mountjoy, President of the Foundation, said he was delighted the Foundation was able to attract someone with such an extensive, and successful background in fundraising and tennis. ''The Foundation's short-term goals are to fully fund its Endowments. With his skills, Larry should soon be able to lead us to those goals,?'' Mountjoy stated.
The mission of the Texas Tennis Foundation is ''to promote health and education through tennis by providing assistance to Texas players and organizations.'' It provides funds for training and scholarships for students, special populations, and organized tennis groups and clubs as well as supporting the Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame.
