Texas Tennis Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2005

(Waco) The Tennis Hall of Fame Selection Committee, comprised of six respected media members, past-president of the USTA Texas Section, presidents of the USPTA Texas Division and the Texas Tennis Coaches Association, and chair of the Selection Committee, proudly announces the class of 2005 for induction October 8, 2005. Scheduled to appear in Waco for the Induction Ceremonies include Tim Heckler, USPTA CEO and industry leader; Dr. William Owen, former president of the Texas Tennis Association (now USTA Texas Section) and Houston Tennis Association ; Paul Christian successful player, coach at the University of Houston (1968-74), teaching professional at Westwood Country Club in Houston (1976-2001); and Jim and Linda McIngvale who brought the US Men's Clay Court Championships, the 2002 US Davis Cup Quarters, World Team Tennis, the Tennis Masters Cup to Texas as owners of the Westside Tennis Club in Houston.

On Feb. 11, 2006 at the USTA Texas Section / USPTA Texas Division Annual Meetings in the Woodlands, there will be a video presentation and recognition of the Hall of Fame Inductees.

Proceeds from the Hall of Fame Gala and Invitational Tournament benefit the Texas Tennis Museum & Hall of Fame and the Hall of Fame Scholarship. The mission of the museum is to preserve tennis history, educate the public about tennis and tennis history, and to provide role models for generations. Enshrines from years past include Maureen Connolly Brinker, Zina Garrison, Randy Snow, Lori McNeil, Steve Denton, Dick Stockton, Tut Bartzen, George, Cliff and Nancy Richey, Wilmer Allison and many other tennis greats.
